Starbucks gets greener

Lets all go green

Starbucks launched a new bigger and greener logo this year and continues to go green in other ways too.
Starbucks is celebrating Earth Day by offering a free coffee or tea when you bring in your reusable mug. They have also started a pilot program in Vancouver to help reduce waste, with a new recycling bin to replace trash cans.

Jim Hanna, director of environmental impact for Starbucks said “Our target is that by 2015 we have recycling available for our customers in all of our stores worldwide where we control waste collection and to serve 25 percent of beverages in reusable cups. We also aim towards 100 percent of our cups being recyclable so we are excited to be closer to realizing those goals with this program being implemented across British Columbia.”

Also if you have a garden you can get some complementary 5 pound bags of compost grounds from Starbucks to enrich your soil.

I am sure the new pilot program will have very positive feedback in Vancouver.
